“I heard you ran down the driveway with a bat.” The essence of Devon’s smile slips through the receiver of phone despite his anger.

“I would’ve bashed his brains in too but mama told them not to open the gate.”

“Why haven’t you called the police? He can be made to stay away from you and the girls if they add to this to his record of his past behavior towards you.”

I wipe my face clear of tears. “Devon, there’s no record of his past behavior that counts. They only have him for slashing my tires. But I will get them involved if he shows up here like that again. Can you believe that bastard said I’m keeping him from his kids because I’m with you now? He doesn’t deserve to be in their life. I also told him he should get a lawyer for future visits. This is getting to be too much and I really would’ve beaten the shit out him with that bat if I could’ve climbed the gate.”

“I’m glad you didn’t. Don’t beat the shit out of anyone. I’ll get Manuel to call and report this to his contact in the police department. If we don’t put a stop to this, Sidney will keep coming.”

“I know. I had a bad feeling before you left but I knew we’d both be okay.”

“Why the hell didn’t you tell me this, Storm? I would’ve stayed at home!”

Oh my damn, he’s mad with us now!

Us? I didn’t do shit!

Oddly his anger makes me smile. “I told you, I knew we’d be okay and we can’t stop our lives because others want to get in the way, Dev.”

“When it comes to your intuition, I’ll stop this damn world! It’s always on point and as much as I hate that, I’ll still take heed. Don’t do this again, Storm!” He hisses.

“Okay, Dev, but only if you don’t leave me without waking me up to kiss you goodbye again and even if Sidney has friends, and I’m not sure what the hell he meant by that, I have you so I’m not going to let him worry me. But can you come home before Saturday? I still need you here.”

He groans. “Baby, I wish I could. I need to get this Taiwan mess settled so I can stop taking so many trips. I’m already regretting not waking you up but if you have any more bad feelings, call me, and I’ll shut this shit down over here.”

“Don’t shut anything down. I have a house full of security and Cheyenne made up for the kiss with the flowers, hug, and kiss from you. How did you get your shirt on me?”

Devon chuckles. “It wasn’t hard. You were practically unconscious. I know how much you wanted my other shirt but I’m glad I took it. It helped get me through the long cold nights in Australia because it was filled with your scent.” Devon never did tell me about what happened there. He probably would have if I hadn’t been so cold to him in California when he got back.
